“Codes of Conduct” (short essay)

What I said: “We've to remember to those cheating, lying, stealing, corrupting, beguiling - from their point of view they're doing nothing wrong - when you're taught today is all there is - you've no belief system of virtue, merit, honor, trust - and you're doing what everyone else is doing.”

 

From a friend:

 

“Slightly over simplified Chuck with accountability only for those that are accountable ?  While of this earth we are charged with codes of conduct as you well know. While of this earth this is what we deal with.”

 

My Reply:

 

Yes - but that's the way it is! When a society turns to chaotic behavior from the top to the bottom - cheating  - stealing - adultery - avarice - greed - lusts - envy - lying - etc. are the way the rest of society adopts their behaviors - simple because it's easy  - Satan's plan was easy - he'd do all the work and take all of the credit! 

 

This makes those who have morals - values - in tune with the Scriptures - be laughed at - scorned - and tempted to go to the other side!  Which in fact many do!  Many do it unknowingly feeling that they're doing nothing wrong by going to the store - football - baseball - to the beach etc. on Sundays.  Even their paid professionals tell them it's okay! 

 

As an example - a young basketball recruit - apparently fell asleep - crossed the grass medium - ran headlong into two other vehicles - killed a 50 year old woman and seriously injured another in the second vehicle.  The media told all about him and how much they loved him and what a great person he was and also a great athlete who they'll miss (he died).  But what about the person he also killed and the other who he injured? 

 

Another - an athlete making 60 Million dollars over the next five years wants a new contract - this gets media attention - why?  Because the worldly are so caught up in the wiles of anything other than truth and the Scriptures that these are the heroes - and there's little good that can be said for many in government offices - and almost no good which can be said for the movie industry or the media/press. 

 

Yet what influences are found in the world in which we live - none of value once we leave the bounds of our homes - families - and the Scriptures! 

 

Many say that this too restricted of a point of view - that there's no harm in Billy Joel - or Charles Manson - or any of a number of people who are anywhere in-between these two as influences on choices made today by our youth and many adults.  What harm is a beer commercial - or sexy calendars - or dirty PG-R-X rated movies or the new fad of no-rating.  What's wrong with single parent homes - or no parent homes - or what's wrong with the doing away of the family! 

 

We can talk, write, think, explain and search all that we want for what Heavenly Father would have us do - and even try to share it with others - but most could care less - and most under almost all cases will never change or accept what's being said as being true.  People refuse to change!  They'd rather enjoy the company of their peers - than to embrace the truth.  We find in Doctrine and Covenants 121: 34-36 the following:

 

34 Behold, there are many called, but few are chosen. And why are they not chosen?

35 Because their hearts are set so much upon the things of this world, and aspire to the honors of men, that they do not learn this one lesson—

36 That the rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven, and that the powers of heaven cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness.

 

This is not what the worldly - even the righteous want to hear!  They want to hear any road will lead to Zion - or better to the Celestial Kingdom - if there be such a place!

 

Thus over and over I throw my voice (via writings) into the stiff wind of opposition - and know that most will not hear/feel or act on what I'm trying to testify of!  The Father and the Son have told all of their disciples to proclaim the Word of God and Repentance from the house-tops!  Yet it appears in the chaotic world in which we reside for a temporary mortal probation - that it's raining - the roof-tops are slippery - and everyone has the volume turned up on their media of choice. 

 

Either what I've been saying/writing is true or it really doesn't matter!  For if any can deny what I've tried to present - which comes from the Scriptures - then for them it really doesn't matter that there might be a Celestial Kingdom - that families can be forever - and that with a body of flesh and bone we can reside in the presence of our Heavenly Father and His Only Begotten Son forever and ever!  If one does not believe this then they will never know of its sureness and truthfulness.  These truths which I share are for my friends - my neighbors - my family - and for the most part I'm rejected by all in this testimony. 

 

But it matters not!  I'll keep doing what Heavenly Father wants me to do - as long as I've breath - for to be found doing anything else is totally worthless!

Lists of laws found of men/women

indifferent to the reality of honesty

more to control another with force

creating a system which is to cheat

beguile, steal, abuse, excuse, break

nothing held sacred or honorable

gone are all the codes of conduct;

 

Accountability for one’s actions

responsibility for one’s roles to be

a higher law to be obeyed yesterday

yet today recognizes not a tomorrow

only the lusts of the day to know

where no law or commandment is

then a society lives in total chaos!
