“Root Hog; or Die” (an essay)

“Root Hog; or Die”

If one goes to Wikipedia – one can get an idea of what this means – but let’s go back further than this source – which only goes to prior to 1834. We’ll instead go back to the 1st half of the 17th Century to the year, c.1622. After the failure of King directed Communism (which had failed in Jamestown) also had failed in Plymouth by their second year. Governor Bradford said, “At length, after much debate … the governor, gave way that they should set corn every man for his own purpose, and in every regard trust to themselves … and so assigned to every family a parcel of land according to the proportion of their number, (History of Plymouth, 1606-1642, pp.160-162.)” Thus going from the common sharing – with the hard working and those who were unwilling to work because they didn’t have to one were everyone had to ‘root hog – cultivate – plant and tend; or die – of starvation.’

Root; hog or die is the polar to communism (or in today’s world socialism or sharing the wealth of those who work and/or earned – with those who do nothing) and this was learned very early in all of the colonies on the Eastern Seaboard of the new world. Again to quote William Bradford – governor of the Plymouth Colony, “The experience that was had in this common cause and condition, tried sundry years, and that amongst godly and sober men, may well evince (demonstrate) the vanity of that conceit of Plato and other ancients – applauded by some in later times – that taking away of property, and bringing it into a commonwealth, would make them happy and flourishing as if they were wiser than God, ibid,”

In the above I’ve mentioned the Jamestown Colony. This was established at the beginning of the 1600’s – and had issued a charter which mandated ‘voluntary communism’ which by 1611 had failed terribly. The company which had mandated this mistake (the London Company) revoked this mandate and established the rule of each person to survive on their own. Soon after the colony did much better!

If a people or nation want to encourage anthesis they must allow for growth separate from another – each person is to be able to rise to their level of goals set and accomplished. Nowhere in the Bible is the idea of communal life – communism – socialism found in the Scriptures! Indeed, communal life is nothing more or less than the plan which Lucifer offered in the pre-existence. One must remember his plan would provide for all – none would be lost – all would be saved and none would have to do anything. There were two plans – first, one which would require each individual to use their agency to survive the tests of mortality! The second, plan did not require agency or personal choice – all would be saved in mortality – however, there would be Celestial reward – only that to be an administering servant to Satan – for the glory would be his. Now many in the world while having voted for the first plan – have instead in mortality adopted the second plan. However, this choice is far more dangerous – because being evicted from the heavens with one-third of the host of heaven – have absolutely nothing to offer – zero – a void – darkness – zilch – and come of naught in their test of mortality.

It must be remembered that those who’ve adopted the second plan – believe they’re in control of their lives and also have the right to control everyone else’s life. Sadly, because of this they’re called; kings, queens, dictators, rulers, and other such names – but maybe the best is Mongol. In many aspects in the United States today we’ve a government – made up of Senators, Judges, Congresspersons, and even the office of President who feel that Plato was correct and they are the chosen one’s to make all of our decision – to distribute wealth – violate the laws of God – and void his divine instrument of the Constitution. This government has enlisted the aid of the media industry, television, movies and most importantly the music or entertainment industry. (Note: let’s understand not all of the Senators, Congresspersons or Judges have adopted the second plan – yet for some reason they have not the ability to stop this wave of insanity to violate the freedoms of the working class Americans who are legal citizens.) It is in part – a large part due to three reasons of those who’ve adopted Plato – Socialism and the denial of freedom. The first is the overwhelming influence of the immoral flood of the entertainment world. The first way to counteract the ‘still small voice of the Spirit’ is to create a distraction – the music, games, and distractions of the entertainment world have accomplished this goal – without any restrictions as to content – value – or virtue. The second is the acts of those who have claimed leadership in this nation. Their behavior is selfish, wanton and without regard to the laws of the land. The third – the media who continue day and night to promote the ideas of Plato and Augustine, Calvin and many others – in their support of lies, socialism, defamation of any good, repetitively repeating rhetoric until many accept what is without merit as having merit and even is true!

In previous essays I’ve mentioned ‘strange slips’ and ‘lees’ and in this one the saying, ‘root hog or die.’ Each has to till the earth (of their inner soul) and plants and tend to their Spiritual wellbeing. It is actually quite easy – but the worldly make it seem impossible. We must remember that the Father and the Son have never asked us to do anything which was impossible. Thus we’ve to prepare – do – and eventually find the solutions to our problems or obstacles to be overcome. We must truly remember that each person’s obstacles will be different (maybe similar) but each person is their own individual. Those tools we have are our ability to pray – to call upon Heavenly Father – (James 1:5) – and if we are prepared – clean – worthy – will gain the knowledge to do what we need to do – and answer our questions or obstacles. Now these answers may not come in the way we expect but they will come!

Yet if we have not done the tilling of the field – planted seeds – tended and cared for our harvest – there will be no harvest and there will be no answers forth coming! We’re the ones who have to be obedient to the laws, statutes and Commandments of Heavenly Father and the Son! Anyone who believes one only needs to be saved – and there is no need for works – does not believe literally the Scriptures. Repeatedly James, Paul, Peter, John, Isaiah, Job, Moses, Ezra, Malachi, and indeed all of the Prophets of the Old and New Testaments – the Book of Mormon – the Pearl of Great Price – and those Prophets alive today – have always taught the principle that ‘faith without works is dead!’ It is thoroughly understood that none of us could make without the ‘grace of God.’ What is not understood is what is this ‘grace?’ Grace is the power of God which allows us to keep going, to endure to the end, when we’ve done everything we can do to the best of our ability. Grace does not take away – either ‘faith’ or ‘works’ but adds to both of them. Grace

(This is taken from the Bible Dictionary: A word that occurs frequently in the New Testament, especially in the writings of Paul. The main idea of the word is divine means of help or strength, given through the bounteous mercy and love of Jesus Christ.
It is through the grace of the Lord Jesus, made possible by His atoning sacrifice, that mankind will be raised in immortality, every person receiving his body from the grave in a condition of everlasting life. It is likewise through the grace of the Lord that individuals, through faith in the Atonement of Jesus Christ and repentance of their sins, receive strength and assistance to do good works that they otherwise would not be able to maintain if left to their own means. This grace is an enabling power that allows men and women to lay hold on eternal life and exaltation after they have expended their own best efforts.
Divine grace is needed by every soul in consequence of the Fall of Adam and also because of man’s weaknesses and shortcomings. However, grace cannot suffice without total effort on the part of the recipient. Hence the explanation, “It is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do” (2 Ne. 25:23). It is truly the grace of Jesus Christ that makes salvation possible. This principle is expressed in Jesus’ parable of the vine and the branches (John 15:1–11). See also John 1:12–17; Eph. 2:8–9; Philip. 4:13; D&C 93:11–14.)
Therefore if we extend the saying, ‘root hog or die’ to be ‘root mankind or die’ and perceive the teachings of the Savior – we’ll know that there is one way to return to the Father and the Son – and that is by what we do with what we’ve given in this mortal test. Yes, of course one has to have faith – but one must also repent – be baptized and received the gift of the Holy Ghost (which only one Church has this authority on this earth at this time – as in all of the dispensations of the Gospel of Jesus Christ being on this earth have had.
Let me be quite clear each of you who read this most likely belong to a church of your choice and this is as it should be – but in the belief of the literalness of the Scriptures – then one must believe as I do that their church is the only true church on this earth at this time. Why? Because we know God is not a God of confusion, contention – but a God of order in all things. He would not have contradicting beliefs taught and call it His church! Paul addressed this when he appealed to the congregation, 1 Cor. 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. 12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?”
The most important aspect of the saying, ‘root hog or die’ is that we must not be dependent upon government or socialism/communism to provide for our needs. Yes there are government programs which we’ve paid into to help us in disability and or injury and retirement; but these were earned through our efforts in working and providing. However, if there are those who are gathering in these social benefits having not contributed – having not become a legal citizen – but instead are entitled by a government which has exceeded its Constitutional restraints – then there is something seriously wrong on the tangible side of the equation. Yet, let us remember that, ‘root mankind or die’ in a Spiritual context deals with our eternal salivation – i.e. returning to our Heavenly Father and our Savior in the highest degree of glory of the Celestial Kingdom – with our families – (both our progenitors and our posterity) which is something no government (except a Theocracy under the Father and the Son) can provide. If one is indolent, wicked, evil, and immoral, doesn’t abide the Commandments, doesn’t make covenants with the Father and the Son and other understandings found in the Scriptures – then they have no promise other than that of the Atonement that they will be resurrected. As found in Paul there are three kingdoms for those who are resurrected – The Celestial: The highest of the three degrees of glory that a person can attain after this life. Here the righteous will dwell in the presence of God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. The glory of the celestial is one:1 Cor. 15:40; ( D&C 76:96;) The second of the three degrees of glory in which people will dwell after the final judgment. Paul saw a terrestrial glory, likened to the glory of the moon:1 Cor. 15:40–41; The lowest of the three degrees of glory in which people will dwell after the final judgment. Paul saw a glory of the stars:1 Cor. 15:40–41. There is one more – but this is called ‘outer darkness’ for those who cannot abide any of the three mentioned. Each individual will inherit that which they’re able to abide!
How are we doing in our intangible lives? Most can tell how we are doing in our tangible lives by the way we live – what we have stewardship (for no one truly owns anything material but have them for a while until no longer useful, rust or moth corrupts, or we die) over while living. Are we found digging into the Scriptures – are we planting seeds of good value – and do we harvest for both ourselves and others? Please carefully remember James 1:27, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” In the Book of Mormon – King Benjamin added to this, “Mosiah 4:16 And also, ye yourselves will succor those that stand in need of your succor; ye will administer of your substance unto him that standeth in need; and ye will not suffer that the beggar putteth up his petition to you in vain, and turn him out to perish.
17 Perhaps thou shalt say: The man has brought upon himself his misery; therefore I will stay my hand, and will not give unto him of my food, nor impart unto him of my substance that he may not suffer, for his punishments are just—
18 But I say unto you, O man, whosoever doeth this the same hath great cause to repent; and except he repenteth of that which he hath done he perisheth forever, and hath no interest in the kingdom of God.
19 For behold, are we not all beggars? Do we not all depend upon the same Being, even God, for all the substance which we have, for both food and raiment, and for gold, and for silver, and for all the riches which we have of every kind?
20 And behold, even at this time, ye have been calling on his name, and begging for a remission of your sins. And has he suffered that ye have begged in vain? Nay; he has poured out his Spirit upon you, and has caused that your hearts should be filled with joy, and has caused that your mouths should be stopped that ye could not find utterance, so exceedingly great was your joy.
21 And now, if God, who has created you, on whom you are dependent for your lives and for all that ye have and are, doth grant unto you whatsoever ye ask that is right, in faith, believing that ye shall receive, O then, how ye ought to impart of the substance that ye have one to another.
22 And if ye judge the man who putteth up his petition to you for your substance that he perish not, and condemn him, how much more just will be your condemnation for withholding your substance, which doth not belong to you but to God, to whom also your life belongeth; and yet ye put up no petition, nor repent of the thing which thou hast done.
23 I say unto you, wo be unto that man, for his substance shall perish with him; and now, I say these things unto those who are rich as pertaining to the things of this world.
24 And again, I say unto the poor, ye who have not and yet have sufficient, that ye remain from day to day; I mean all you who deny the beggar, because ye have not; I would that ye say in your hearts that: I give not because I have not, but if I had I would give.
25 And now, if ye say this in your hearts ye remain guiltless, otherwise ye are condemned; and your condemnation is just for ye covet that which ye have not received.”

Thus we’ve much to be doing! Hopefully we’ll each be found anxiously engaged in both learning, discerning and doing the Will of our Father in Heaven – seeking to be worthy servants in the vineyards and gardens during our mortal probation – in the name of Jesus Christ – amen – c/ork

Are we cultivating the soil
tending and weeding daily
carefully planting the seeds
each in their proper place
mindful of the eternal goals
we covenanted to once obey
when in our pre-mortal estate;

Thus do we tenderly seek
discerning wisdom and truth
prayerfully considering all
learning our stewardships
able to do all we can do
worthy of the Atonement
and thus the Grace of God;

Do we help all to blossom
our time wisely engaged
doing Father’s will today
being obedient to His laws
His Commandments all
and His statutes written
is anthesis found within?

“The Lees Under the Wine” (an essay)

“The Lees Under the Wine”

Are we happy or are we bitter? Do we improve with age or do we destroy? Are we obedient to the laws, statutes and commandments of Father or not? What kind of ‘lees’ are we found to be? It would be my guess few in the world even know what ‘lees’ are – and therefore if one is lacking in this understanding it becomes more difficult to comprehend the Scriptures.

Terry Ball and Nathan Winn in their book, “Making Sense of Isaiah” describes it this way: “Lees are the sediments of yeast and pulp that settle to the bottom of the wine vat during processing, after the grapes have been trampled.”  They go on to state that the ‘lees’ then either add to the aging and quality of some wine – while being left in other wine causes bitterness and ruins the wine.  Thus the question, ‘What kind of lees are we individually?’

Isaiah is speaking not only to the people of his day – but also to those of our day. Whenever a Temple of the Lord is established on earth by the proper Priesthood Authority under the direction of God – then covenants which are eternal are made by individuals and married couples. Indeed, even in the performance of baptism by one having authority certain eternal covenants are made with God and the individual. When one has made these covenants and they keep them – their quality increases; if one has made these covenants and then they do not keep they ruin the validity of their person.  (Note: remember we’re talking of eternal principles and not worldly principles or understandings.)

When speaking only of those who’ve gone to the Temple (with authority) of the Lord – can they understand the covenants made therein. For the rest of the world they’ve neither taken these covenants – for no one without Priesthood Authority from God through his living Prophet and those called can administer in any ordinances or covenants with the Lord. (Note: always throughout the history of men and women since the time of Adam and Eve has there ever been but one Church which holds these keys and authority.)
Thus all of the churches of Christendom may claim these keys and authority – and even portend to administer them – they’ve only authority from governments and not God – and can only exercise earthly things and not eternal things.  Thus most are led in confusing and the misinterpretation of the Scriptures – and in fact much of the known Scriptures are ignored completely by the churches of Christendom.

Why is this so – and how can I make such a blatant statement as to the churches of Christendom? First and foremost is common sense! Anyone who can read the Scriptures (in their many and revised context over the past fifty years – maybe even the last 1700 years) and accept them literally as for the most part no many how many changes men and women have made to them certain unalienable truths stand out! However, once more most will just go along with their various creeds and those whom they pay to preach to them.
We’ll start with the Gnostics who followed in the footsteps of the Apostles of Jesus Christ during the meridian of time – and changed even what Peter had taught or spoken. In a letter from Peter to James he states (paraphrased), “If they change what I’ve said while I’m alive what will they do after I’m dead?” And he was indeed correct as almost all of the original teachings during Christ’s ministry – and those teachings of the Old Testament have either been changed, deleted (over 3400 books/letters are missing – including many Prophets), revised or simply misrepresented. Sadly the lay person has no interest or knowledge of this – while all of it is there for those who earnestly seek the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Next we’ll look at the new fathers of the Catholic/Greek Orthodox churches – i.e. Augustine and Origen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origen) . Both were raised and taught in the schools of rhetoric – and both taught in these schools. (Note: it is highly recommended that everyone understands the definition and actual meaning of this word. One reason for this is that it is being bantered about in the daily news.) King Alfred the Great (of England – then Anglo-Saxton) said this one simple and clarifying statement about the teachings of Augustine, “God had appointed freedom to be given to men … If they sin in anything through this freedom, they shall, by penitence, compensate for it., to recover that freedom: and if any of them will be so hard-hearted that he will do no repentance … he shall then have a just punishment.” (Turner, The History of the Anglo-Saxons, p.2:66-67. What he was referring to was the teaching by Augustine of ‘original sin’ which is still taught today and requires infant baptism. And as to the teaching of ‘predestination’ by Augustine he had this to say, “He seeth all our works, both good and evil, before they are done … But he compels us not to … necessarily do the good; nor prevents us from doing evil; because he has given us freedom,” (ibid. p.69). (Note: this ‘freedom’ is easily inter-changeable with ‘agency.’)

Quickly and not slightingly to address Origen – his teachings were out of line with Augustine with one caveat that he declared what he knew to be true, what he didn’t know – and what he had no clue about. However, one must remember he was basically ‘post excommunicated’ from the church in 553AD for his teachings which were too controversial and thus rejected. While he taught many truths – much of his teachings were confusing (even to him). He tried to use the reasoning of his time and place to put in order how things occurred in regards to God and men/women. The Greek Orthodox rejected much of his teachings.
One must remember religion after the 2nd Century was mostly based on the sword and not the truth as found literally in the Bible or Scriptures. This continued well into the 17th and

18th Centuries. This is one of reasons the east coast of North America was so quickly populated. Those seeking religious ‘freedoms’ were some of the first to leave. (Note: the religious ‘freedoms’ of many of the early colonies were no freer than what they had in England – however, it was to practice their own form of religion freely. Many were burned at the stake – or thrown out of their communities for teaching doctrines deviant from the church leaders in the colonies.)

Next we’ll take a look at the Age of Reformation – which was the period where many started to question the political/church relationship as it pertained to ‘doctrine.’ Again, almost everyone today who’s thought of as a reformer never said they were starting another church – but only they were seeking to get closer to what was taught in the Scriptures. Yet each of these reformers were already the heads of the churches in their communities – therefore – men/women being what they are – high jacked their thoughts and teachings to form a new church. This in turn led to the new paid clergy of these churches teaching the doctrines of those who paid their salaries. Indeed even further to develop schools to train the pastors/ministers to have the correct doctrines to teach as dictated by the one’s footing the bills.

This period of reformation had some very definite plus’ toward the bringing forth of what is commonly known as the Holy Bible today. One of the biggest reasons to be burned at the stake was to have any of the writings of the reformers on your person or in your home. Hundreds of thousands were murdered throughout mainland Europe (to include Denmark, Great Britain and other nations).  Yet as early at the 15th Century translations of the Bible began to appear in printed form. (Note: as early as the 9th Century forms of printing using movable metal type had occurred in China; in Korea in the early 13th Century and in Germany 1450 – we have the Gutenberg Press.) Thus the earliest printed materials in the European area were the Bible. (Note: we must remember also much of the population of Europe at this time were illiterate due to the fact that there was nothing available to read except manuscripts which were limited to nobility or the most wealthy.)

By the 16th Century multiple editions of the Bible began to appear throughout Europe – and thus those who could read – would read to their communities at great risk. William Tyndale (Tynsdale sometimes spelled) brought forth the most accurate translation as he could read and write in multiple languages including; Greek and Hebrew. He spent time first on the New Testament – and then on the Old Testament. Today over 80% of the KJV (to about 1769 – when other revisions started to occur) comes from his efforts in the Bible. For his efforts he was strangled (while at the stake and then burned at the stake, where he revived from the strangulation, and said, “Lord, open the King of England’s eyes.” Tyndale was able to accomplish the translation from the Greek and the Hebrew because when moving to Germany – he learned Hebrew (this was forbidden in England – and all Jews had been expelled) and that another great scholar – Desiderius Erasmus had translated and edited the Greek Scriptures and these were available to Tyndale in Germany. One of the concluding statements of Tyndale was, “…that the common laborer, the plowboy in England could read and understand the Bible.”

Above I mentioned Desiderius Erasmus as both a translator and editor in the Greek and other languages. He, in and of himself, was quite a person! His most famous writing was one entitled, “In Praise of Folly,” which while written in jest and in a very quick window of time – stated as had Alfred the Great – some very important truths about the teachings of religion and the literal truths of the Bible and their conflicting presentations. The ‘Praise of Folly’ was written as a letter to his friend, Thomas More (latter beheaded by Henry VIII). In this essay or letter – he addresses many of the teachings of the churches of the day and their utter foolishness when looked at with common sense. Erasmus was considered one of the earliest of the ‘humanist’s’ but to me this would be stretching the point to the extreme. He did nothing more than what Alfred had already done in the 10th Century – look at what was being preached or taught – with the literalness of the Scriptures.

Thus even through the Age of Reformation – we find confusion, misdirection, political correctness involvement, and otherwise a lack of common sense which comes from one reading the Scriptures on their own (which was the purpose for Tyndale doing his translations). One must also remember the Age of Reformation referred to by historians is of their own make-up in that ever since the death of the Apostles and Disciples of the Savior – reformation had been taking place within the world of religion.

Thus, in providing wine for the table what do we find when departing from the Scriptures but bad wine! The ‘lees’ instead of increasing the quality of the wine have ruined it or caused it to be bitter. Think of it this way, the contention found in all of the various churches – either against each other or against one collectively is not of the Savior! Contention only comes from the adversary or better known as Satan (see 3rd Nephi 11:29)! When anyone departs from the Scriptures they are treading on bitter wine – and thus to partake of this wine – leads one to become even the same as the wine – bitter – ruined in their path to eternal salvation – and unable to comprehend truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

However, when partakes of the Scriptures literally – they partake of good wine – where the ‘lees’ have done their proper function – finding peace in the covenants and ordinances of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This leads and is the only path or road to Zion – in returning with our family – past and present into the presence of the Father and the Son! We then as the Savior taught, (see Matthew 5:48) – for why would the Savior teach something if it were not possible? (Note: some call this blasphemy – in that one can never become like God – however there are multiple Scriptures which refer to this being possible by the Savior.) Granted most of us being mortal know we will have great difficulty in becoming perfect – but none the less we should be striving to become as we’ve been commanded to become. (Note: in my life I’ve learned you can do this one thing at a time – and it will take a very long time to accomplish all things. Yet if one does not start on the path one will never reach Zion.)

Being on the path or road to Zion requires one to be of the good ‘lees’ – for anything else is to be on the path or road to Babylon. Two things to remember here regardless of which road you’re on – you will act accordingly. However – one can repent, turn-around and start towards Zion. And one who’s on the road to Zion can reject the truth and find themselves in Babylon. Babylon’s road is much easier – because once one is on it – they are already there! While Zion’s road is a journey – with the trials and tribulations, the scorn of the world, and other persecutions found coming from those who’ve chosen Babylon.

It all comes down to the ‘freedom’ addressed above from King Alfred – we’ve the agency (or the ‘lees’) to make our own choices. Once we allow others to make our choices – we become part and parcel of the decision-making which they discern for us. There is a limit on our ‘freedom’ or ‘agency’ while it can never be taken away from us – we can give it away! We do this by the commission of sin, breaking the law, not being obedient to the Commandments – and otherwise in rejecting truth and accepting rhetoric or outright lies in truth’s place. Remember if you break a law – you can go to jail or prison – while in jail or prison what freedom’s do you have?

Are we found to be bitter or happy – this is our choice – to be good ‘lees’ or bad ‘lees’ – one helping and the other destroying. Only each individual can answer this question – and they must do it for themselves. One can be as Peggy Lee sang in her torch song, ‘Is That All There Is?’ – and find themselves spiritually empty at the end of the day – looking around – and wondering why am I here, where am I going and where did I come from – with no answers gained from the ‘lees’ of the worldly. Or one can be like the children’s song, “I Am A Child of God” and know the answer with a surety of where you came from – what you must be doing – and if you do what you’re supposed to be doing and learn what you need to learn where you will be going someday.

We are the ‘lees’ to our family and to our friends and neighbors. Indeed we are the ‘lees’ to all we meet and whoever look at us for an example. There is no exclusion to our being ‘lees’ in every aspect of our lives – and the effect we have on both ourselves and others. As King Alfred we have the freedom to decide – to be obedient to the Gospel of Jesus Christ or not!

In the name of Jesus Christ – amen – c/ork

“What Does One Believe Called Christian” (an essay)

“What Does One Believe Called Christian”

cji
9/26/13

(Preface: this is written to my friends to share with you some of my intense research on what is believed and taught in religion today. In it will be some of my beliefs – but more importantly what I’ve learned over 58 years of trying to discern the literal Holy Bible – and separate out the teachings of the world which are not in harmony – or do not make common sense with the word, the truth and the light (i.e. our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ.)

Over time and space I’ve written much concerning religion starting at a very young age of 11-13 and continuous ever since the middle 1950’s. Indeed it was after reading the Bible cover to cover at the age of 11 years old (1955) that my search began to find a church which matched the literal teachings found in the KJV Bible of that day and time. (Note: the revisions of the Bible since 1955 have been fast and furious and continue even today to meet the definition of someone’s current belief which supplants that of the original Prophet’s and Apostles – and indeed even the Father and the Son.) Current teachings in almost every church defined by men/women either reformed or otherwise (with one exception) do not take the Bible literally any more except to say two things: 1) what’s in the Bible (their version) is all that there is in Scripture and that there is nothing more ending with the final verses of Revelations; and 2) that there is no longer Revelations and or Miracles – indeed that the heavens are closed and have been for quite some time. These two points are very important and while I will not specifically reference any of the creeds of the various churches (they are all referenced at the end of this essay) it is to be noted that these creeds are based on 1 and 2 above.

The first of these two statements from almost every church begun or controlled by men and or women – denies almost everything taught in the Scriptures and denies facts about the Books in the Bible as well. Most importantly Revelations was written far before some of the other Books of the New Testament and second – the same verse is found in Books of the Old Testament; and third we know in the Old Testament that commandments were given to the tribes of Joseph and Judah to keep their own records of Revelations from the Father and the Son. The findings of the various deposits of records all over the world testify that there were more than one record being kept to include but not limited to: the Dead Sea Scrolls; the Nag Hammadi  Scrolls (which are mostly gnostic); The Book of Mormon (which almost all of the leaders of world Christendom deny vehemently as being a fraud – while otherwise being unable to produce any documentation of the same); the Shabako Stone (3000BC writings placed on this stone in about 800BC); the Lachish Letters (about 588BC); and many more to numerous to mention. It must be remember in the many captivities of the various Jewish Nations – much was destroyed of the writings of the Old Testament – and with the exception of the records kept by Ezra – who when returning to Jerusalem in the era of Cyrus. Further after the teachings of Malachi there is a void of over 450 years with no records being kept until the time of John the Baptist and then the Savior. In 70AD the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed – but the religion and sacred texts available were taken by the Rabbis/Rabbi’s who gained permission from the Roman leaders to supplant all of the religious responsibility for the Jewish people. In total it is estimated that over 3400 Books of the Old and New Testament are missing and presumed lost. (Note: from time to time some of these Books show up having been found in the tombs of various monastery’s in various parts of Europe, Asia or the Middle East. It is well known that Syria has volumes of records that no is allowed to translate.

As a following observation to the above paragraph – it is impossible to believe that the only group of people being taught by the Prophets or the Savior would be located in one (very small) location. In the New Testament the Savior tells the Apostles he has other sheep to feed which are not of this fold – and surely He knew where the Ten Lost Tribes had been scattered throughout the world. Also, it was prophesized that the tribe of Joseph would leave Jerusalem before the Babylonian captivity (approximately 600BC). What happened to the people at the time of the Tower of Babel – surely when they were scattered they too had sacred records. It is also known that from the time of Adam and Eve written records were kept – while to the knowledge of mankind these records are not available – but surely the Father and the Son know where these records are. To pretend that there are no more records and that no one but the people of the Middle East could read or write requires more faith than could be expected of anyone.

Secondly the idea of no more Revelations and/or Miracles needs to be understood in a meaningful way. How would any of those reformers of the Church as established by the Savior in the meridian of time know that there would be no more Revelations and/or Miracles? This would indicate that no child or adult would get an answer to prayer – for is not an answer to prayer individual and personal revelation? It would mean that whoever began this ‘false teaching’ had to have had revelation to know that this was the case – yet they deny that there is any more revelation. As for the miracles – one must clearly understand that what the Father and the Son did – the Apostles and Prophets could also do – why? The Prophets and Apostles held the Priesthood of Melchizedek – and therefore had the power and authority to act in the name of the Father (the same as the Son had).

Next in the acts of men/women and not the Father and the Son – they introduced false gods from the days of Adam and Eve – for the most part much of what we have in the Holy Bible is about an unrighteous people – who even upon seeing great signs and some even hearing the voice of the Father and or the Son – continuously strayed (as much of the literate world of today has) – paying priests and others to provide religion for them – rather than accepting the words of living Prophets and Apostles – instead stoning these men called of the Father and the Son. If this is difficult to comprehend one of the greatest Prophets of the Old Testament was taken by his grandson who’d become king of Judah – and murdered – some records indicate that he was placed inside a hollow log and cut in half. And the Bible tells of the deaths of many Prophets and Apostles especially those in the New Testament that most men/women know something about. Due to the unrighteousness of the Jewish people they had at the time of Malachi 613 Commandments which they were supposed to obey.

As of these 613 Commandments – when the Rabbinical school took over the Jewish religion they decided the best way to obey the commandments was to make an additional set of commandments. i.e. if one was not to take the name of God in any profane way – then they made a law that no one could ever mention the name of God – this way they could never take His name in a profane way! Another commandment was they could not “boil a (kid) goat in its mother’s milk,” therefore, the Rabbis made a law that they could not eat meat and drink milk at the same meal. Thus, they made laws to make breaking of a commandment impossible. They in fact were overriding the Commandments of God with their own. The list could continue but the rabbinical laws soon overrode the Commandments of God. (Note: most have no idea why these laws are in effect – and why they continue today.)

Returning now to the creeds of men/women – if you belong to any organized religion – then you must be responsible for knowing what you have agreed to believe and practice in your life! These creeds and the theology taught in the various schools of divinity (to become a priest, rabbi, minister, cleric, nun, father, and any other title to be a licensed preacher) you must abide by these teachings. It matters not what you might personally believe – what these schools teach you must follow. In addition, those who lead all but one of the churches in this world are bound by the laws of their respective governments and only have authority in their local areas of practice. Thus the laws of men/women override the laws, statutes and commandments of Heavenly Father and his Son our Savior Jesus Christ.

As an example you and I can both read the Scriptures. We’ll take a very simple one – Stephen is about to be stoned – Acts 7:55-59:
Acts 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the fright hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
First off many forget that Stephen had just recounted the history of Israel to the people – so they knew what he had said was true! What do you see in the above five verses? Maybe you see and read the same thing I do – that Stephen saw Jesus Christ in a physical form standing at the right hand of God (meaning Heavenly Father) in a physical form.

Okay now the next Scripture:

Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

What do you see in this Scripture? That when those who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ (this is the name which Paul was told to call the Church) that they do it the name of Jesus Christ and then give thanks to the Father – two separate individuals!

Mark 10:37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
What do you see in this Scripture? That the Apostles understood after death there would be a physical resurrection in their next estate – therefore they could ask to sit at either the right or the left hand of the Savior. How can one sit without a physical body? Or sit at the right or the left hand without the Savior having a physical body.

Mark 1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Again what do we read? There came a voice (whose voice?) obviously it was the Father for he referenced his beloved Son! How then could the Savior and the Father be one? They are one because they have the same goals, same understandings, which is why we’re commanded to be one with each other – united under God’s Law – especially for a husband and wife – to be one is a commandment.

John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

This Scripture is repeated many, many times in the New Testament – the Savior does the will of his Father – not his own – thus again testifying to two separate and distinct individuals!

After reading the above Scriptures – are these in line with what your religion teaches? Are the creeds found below for your religion teaching literally from the Holy Bible? If not – why not? Have you taken the time to carefully read and ponder the Holy Bible? This is each person’s individual responsibility! Most have no idea of the intense sacrifices made by so many that we might have this book of Scriptures. Little children were burned at the stake by many professing to be Christians between – 200-1900 (and in some parts of the world this genocide continues). Augustine approved of the massacre of any professing the beliefs of the Church as established by the Savior – as the only way to get them to accept his version of Christianity. Kings and Queens of all the nations of Europe, Asia, and throughout the world used genocide to convert – as does Islam today – allowing for no deviation of beliefs – even if without any authority from the Father or the Son.

A couple of last thoughts and questions for each to ponder and this will be ended. First: it is my fervent belief that everyone has the right to believe what they choose to believe. There is a caveat to this in that I also fervently believe that one should do their ‘own’ homework and ask a question if something doesn’t make common sense (one could say even as Socrates’ did). He did not ask meaningless questions but ones which questioned why people believed what they did – and to think for themselves and not be a lemming heading for the cliffs. Second: everything I present is researched and have multiple sources to give credibility to what has been written. Why is this important – because it is factual – thus found in the doctrine of the Savior – and therefore ‘truth’. Remember if anything is not true it is not of the Savior but of the adversary. Thus if it is the doctrine of the Savior and therefore the literal Scriptures – one can easily go and find it on their own. (Note: it has been my long experience that most will never do this – so why do I continue to write – because those who receive this are good, honest, responsible, and most of all my friends. Why would I not share with you that which can lead you to eternal life and salvation with your progenitors and posterity?) Third: If anything is of contention, confusion, guile, misrepresentation, or any other untruth it is not of the Father or the Son. Therefore I try to be clear, concise and without enmity towards anyone or anything.

Questions one might want to ask are as follows: 1) what does my creed say? 2) Who am I and why am I here on this earth at this time? 3) Why did the Savior say I could become like him and the Father? 4) Why do I say or ask prayers if there is no more revelation or miracles (see James 1:5)? 5) Why would the heavens ever be closed? 6) if we ever needed a Prophet on earth wouldn’t it in this day and time? 6) If everyone is expecting the Second Coming – then isn’t the Church supposed to be restored in its fullness before this happens? 7) When will the Savior return – (remember when the Apostles enquired of him this – he simply told them he would return when the Father would come with him and only the Father knew)? 8) are the Father and the Son two separate beings (see all of the above Scriptures and John 13:23/28; John 17:21-24)?  Are the heavens closed, if so where then is John the beloved?

There could be so much more – as the Holy Bible is alive – and testifies of Jesus Christ – as does the Book of Mormon – which primary purpose is to be the second witness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without the Book of Mormon there is no second witness – and this is why the critic of the Holy Bible are destroying it verse by verse – which started after the death of the Savior (c. 30AD) and then the Apostles (about 150AD) (except John) – and then in the 3rd and 4th Centuries when Christianity became 90%+ philosophy and less than 5% Scriptures – and taught by those professing to be the new fathers of the church. Each has to consider or not these things – for each is individually accountable.

I leave you my testimony that Jesus is Christ – our Lord and Savior and that he came and did the will of his Father who sent him; and that the Father and the Son appeared to Joseph Smith, Jr. (a mere youth) as the Savior told his Apostles in the New Testament; further that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored and there  is a living Prophet on the earth today – Thomas S. Monson – and that there are twelve Apostles – in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – amen!  c/ork

  • The Apostle's Creed
  • The Creed of Nicaea as approved by the Nicene Council (A.D. 325)
    • The First Ecumenical council of Nicaea was called by emperor Constantine. The council met to deal with the schism created by Arianism. The Arians wished to avoid the heresy of Sabellius who believed in a divine monad which, by expansion, projected itself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit--a form of Modalism. The Arians separated the Son from God entirely so that they believed he was a creature having a beginning. "There was when he was not." The Son was but God's first creation, yet out of nothing and hence has preeminence over the rest of creation.

  • The Nicene Creed as approved by the Council of Constantinople (A.D. 381)
  • -- The Nicene Creed -- Constantinopolitan Creed -- Creed of 150 Fathers
    • Usually associated with the Council of Constantinople this symbol is an expansion and revision of the earlier Creed of Nicaea with which it is often confused. This is the creed recited in churches. The council met to refute Apollinarianism. Apollinarius taught that Jesus was a combination of the divine Logos spirit, a sensitive human soul and a human body. He taught that Jesus did not have a human spirit. His views were based on the platonic tripartite view of human nature. The council condemned this view in order to show that Christ, as truly human, could redeem the whole person.
    • The symbol emphasizes the Trinitarian faith.
    • The symbol is very suitable for liturgical use and was used as an early baptismal and eucharistic creed. It goes beyond the Creed of Nicaea in its affirmation of the full deity of the Spirit though it uses biblical rather than philosophical terms to do so. The filioque clause found in the Western version of this creed is one of the major disagreements between the Eastern and Western branches of Christianity. This clause was not accepted even by the Western Church until the turn of the first millennium.

    • The council of Chalcedon met to resolve the Monophysite controversy in which Eutyches had refused to confess the existence of two natures in Christ both after the union as well as before. The definition summarizes the Church's teaching on the natures of Christ largely in negative terms.
  • Canons of the Council of Orange (A.D. 529)
    • The Council of Orange was an outgrowth of the controversy between Augustine and Pelagius. This controversy had to do with degree to which a human being is responsible for his or her own salvation, and the role of the grace of God in bringing about salvation. The Pelagians held that human beings are born in a state of innocence, i.e., that there is no such thing as a sinful nature or original sin. As a result of this view, they held that a state of sinless perfection was achievable in this life. The Council of Orange dealt with the Semi-Pelagian doctrine that the human race, though fallen and possessed of a sinful nature, is still "good" enough to able to lay hold of the grace of God through an act of unredeemed human will. As you read the Canons of the Council of Orange, you will be able to see where John Calvin derived his views of the total depravity of the human race.

Melanchthon's twenty one original articles were composed as a response to John Eck's attack on the Protestants as guilty of being ancient heresies. Thus the articles attempt to show that the Protestant faith is in line with the ancient Church. Many, but not all, of the articles were acceptable to Rome. In 1540 Melancthon revised the confession to be acceptable to Calvin. The Lutherans rejected this revision and Melancthon himself. Melancthon's followers would then join the reformed camp.

Since The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was omitted from this list of various Christian churches I’ve posted below – the Articles of Faith (Note: these are the reason Joseph Smith, Jr. was murdered – and in the Bible one will see they’re the same reasons the Savior was crucified):

The Articles of Faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:
We abelieve in bGod, the Eternal Father, and in His cSon, Jesus Christ, and in the dHoly Ghost.
We believe that men will be apunished for their bown sins, and not for cAdam’s transgression.
We believe that through the aAtonement of Christ, all bmankind may be csaved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
We believe that the first principles and aordinances of the Gospel are: first, bFaith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, cRepentance; third, dBaptism by eimmersion for the fremission of sins; fourth, Laying on of ghands for the hgift of the Holy Ghost.
We believe that a man must be acalled of God, by bprophecy, and by the laying on of chands by those who are in dauthority, to epreach the Gospel and administer in the fordinances thereof.
We believe in the same aorganization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, bprophets, cpastors, dteachers, eevangelists, and so forth.
We believe in the agift of btongues, cprophecy, drevelation, evisions, fhealing, ginterpretation of tongues, and so forth.
We believe the aBible to be the bword of God as far as it is translated ccorrectly; we also believe the dBook of Mormon to be the word of God.
We believe all that God has arevealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet breveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10 We believe in the literal agathering of Israel and in the restoration of the bTen Tribes; that cZion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will dreign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be erenewed and receive its fparadisiacal gglory.
11 We claim the aprivilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the bdictates of our own cconscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them dworship how, where, or what they may.
12 We believe in being asubject to bkings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in cobeying, honoring, and sustaining the dlaw.
13 aWe believe in being bhonest, true, cchaste, dbenevolent, virtuous, and in doing egood to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we fhope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to gendure all things. If there is anything hvirtuous, ilovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
Joseph Smith.

in dark and the fog able to view
unwanting the Savior to encumber
so little information left in the world!
