“Killing the Mind”

Over
time revenge and hatred will kill the mind of all individuals and thus
eventually killing the mind of the society in which they live. Revenge and
hatred whether caused by real or imagined slights lead to the moral decay
within first the individual and then the society. It would appear that the
United States of American has arrived at the threshold of embracing this hatred
and revenge as the way of life in which they will now live into the
future.
Led
by those proclaiming they want equality – or what they are due – or demanding
unequal rights than others – seeking more and more in entitlements – that the
selfishness of the mind is winning and the foundations of freedom are losing.
This applies to all creeds, colors, classes, cultures of those living today in
this nation. Wealthy or poor – the attitudes are now the same – or being forced
to be the same. The media stirs the pot and political leaders abuse the
privileges provided to them to lead this nation in promoting hatred, revenge
and racism.

Even the most determined of the
learned community pushes this to be mean whites dominating blacks – while
ignoring the history of each cultural group entering the United States and the
racism towards each of them. Even worse they ignore the absolute violence
against many of different beliefs which included; rape, killing of women and
children; little babies; the stealing of their lands and being forced to abandon
homes to flee the mobs. Indeed being put out into the cold of winter’s freezing
weather.
But there can be no political
leverage by including any other’s within the sphere of what racism is to be
considered for today’s agenda. The agenda of those who seek and desire power is
to destroy the moral fiber of the United States of America. This can only be
done by racism – i.e. revenge and hatred. To cause the dis-trust of everyone
against everyone – it the goal and to which end nothing will be left to chance (if
possible). The Courts, the Attorney General, the Congress, the Executive Branch
are all on the same page with the majority being able to make and enforce the
total segregation of our population.
One cannot even try to address
common issues without the fear of offending someone regardless of the
friendships which once existed. Not too long ago I wrote an essay about
selected racism or discrimination where one can seek to highlight anything out
of context to be offended. Political Correctness is the process to kill the
mind.
Our school system – books and
literature – television – movies – all are part and parcel of what is going on.
The teaching and pushing of the dysfunctional family – most shows considered
family fare – show the parents as bumbling idiots – while the kids are mature
and full of wisdom. In the movies actors make millions of dollars in the
portrayal of violence – sexual activity and otherwise giving evil a good name.
Years ago – in1969 I wrote a
short poem – it was about the transfer of meaning of words. The idea was where
good was evil and evil was good – black was white and white was black – the
truth was a lie and a lie was now truth. Subtly our society has changed the
definition of words and meanings – till now the words which I learned growing
up have lost their ability to communicate. No matter how I try to follow and do
the right thing for the right reason if it is not politically correct it is
wrong and offensive.
The question is as was asked to
me when presenting a series of poems/prose I’d written on the Holocaust,
“You’re not Jewish so you cannot know can you?” Yet, the poems/prose were
written – by me – and greatly understood and accepted by most of the Jewish community
– usually with tears in their eyes. But for some I was not Jewish so I could
not know.
This is true in many areas (and
this is not to either brag or be prideful) where I’ve been confronted by many
variations of cultures. When I presented poems on the migrant workers – I was
told I was not a migrant worker so how could I know. The same was said on
poems/prose I’d written on being an African – or being alive in the centuries
long ago and far away. (Note: in a college course I wrote a series of poems
entitled, “Were I an African – and Not Me What Would I See” – of which the
professor was quite upset. He didn’t know what to do with them, so he gave them
to a Senegal Chief’s son who was an exchange student. When he looked at
them he had one question, “Which African author had written them?” and he
wanted to meet him if possible. We became fast friends with him often coming
and visiting in our small apartment.)
Anyone can question another’s
motivations or intent – but most never ask the person – but simply throw
rhetorical questions to the wind and never seek to understand – but rather to
belittle the one being questioned. Many who write or otherwise express thoughts
which are not found to be politically correct are tried – found guilty and
condemned within our society today. When friends cannot trust and speak with
friends openly and not be upset then there are problems of a serious nature.
Further, when one blames their
decisions on what another has said or done, relinquishing self-accountability or
responsibility then our society has failed and those who divide families,
neighborhoods, communities, cities and states have succeeded!
What continues is the killing
of the mind of each individual – one at a time by mass communications and
disinformation repeated over and over until the majority start accepting it as
the truth. Almost all of the self-proclaimed media convictions in their
published articles of the common everyday citizen have proven false – but yet
they are never rescinded, the innocence of the person is never restored and the
media go on to its next victim.
When a nation pits one person
against another with encouragement hatred and revenge top the list of
motivations. Eating away at the mind of one or the other – either the victim or
the aggressor – until only blood will solve the issue. All of which is done in
the name of equality and political correctness!
Which and where are we found –
this is what we must determine? Others will make their own choices and so must
we! Families must learn to stick together – right their own ship within the
home and with each other. Parents must seek to face the eternities together
(which is not taught except within one Church). Men and women need to regain
the respect for one another that Father intended and Satan seeks always to
destroy first and foremost.
We must stop as a nation the
collective enslavement of the minds of our population. What is this enslavement
– it is self-imposed. Only the individual can restrict what they accomplish and
who they are from where they are and with what they have to work with. We can
become like Edmund Dantes’ or as the Abbé Faria. One
bemoaned and cursed his being and captivity while the other worked on creating
candles, digging a tunnel, writing on the walls of his cell all of the history
and knowledge he treasured.
How many of us
live in the past of not just our generation but of those who came before –
doing nothing with today? Sadly, too many are found believing that resolving
that their problems and lack of ambition is totally the responsibility of
someone else and not theirs. Too many stick their heads into the chains of
self-enslavement – and thus live shallow and empty lives. Indeed they drag many
around them into the same pits for misery loves the companionship of peers.
Our government
encourages self-enslavement – makes it easier for them to control and maintain
unrighteous dominion over the population. While the government does not
need to enslave the many, just enough so those not enslaved cannot do anything
to stop what they are doing. In the 1960’s and the early 1970’s one of my
favorite speakers was Dick Gregory – for he called a spade a spade – and what
he said required no interpretations. Where is the Dick Gregory of today? Who is
speaking up to tell the truth about the attack on the Constitution of the
United States? Who is speaking to all honest American citizens?
(Note: Mr.
Gregory – If this small effort comes to your attention – I used your talks in
my classrooms of the 1970’s – and found them of great worth. In 1964 I knew and
spent time in Harlem with Dr. King and his associates. It is too bad that the
ideals of Dr. King towards colorblindness have been so totally destroyed by
those who said they were continuing his work.)
The killing of
the mind requires one to accept self-enslavement or bondage to another. There
is only one person who requires this of us and we should all willingly want to
be in his presence – and that is Heavenly Father! Yet men and women (anyone
over the age of eight years old and able to think and reason) desire instead to
sell themselves into the slavery of those who they think will entitle them more
and more. Does anyone for a moment believe that if the Constitution is
dismantled that there will be freedom of speech? Or, that any of the right
constitution will survive! For none will – and there will be instead the worse
form of government known to free men and women – a dictatorship ruled in the
form of an oligarchy where the especially rich and powerful control everyone
and everything.
There used to a
rule in the more rural parts of the nation that everyone should carry a shovel
in their wagons. The purpose of the shovel was for everyone to stop and repair
pot holes and other debris from the old dirt roads. Thus everyone carried the
weight of responsibility for what they used. This rule applied to all aspects
of their lives. Then they decided to pay the government to care for the roads
and all other aspects of their lives they were willing to give up. Now the
government wants to take over all aspects of their lives and many who have
accepted selling themselves to the government agree with them.
Why would one
want to give up their freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution to the ones who
are supposed to defend those rights? It is the same ones who feel and want
revenge and to sedate their hatreds. If this idea seems redundant, think about
it. If you’ve sold yourself to the belief system that you are owed everything
and have to do nothing – that someone else is responsible for your indolence,
abuses, excuses and lack of motivation – why not have the government enforce
these same attributes to all of the population. People make decisions for
basically two reasons – to gain a benefit or avoid a loss! When someone
has nothing left to lose and everything to gain by total control, this is what
they’ll choose.
Most do not
consider the consequences of their foolish actions. Girls when seduced at young
ages – because of peer pressure or the need to be wanted or loved aren’t
thinking of getting pregnant. The boys just don’t care as long as they
have conquests which meet the social acceptance of television and movies and
what is taught in school as being perfectly acceptable. That either is showing
a lack of self-respect or understanding of virtue or obedience to the
Commandment of God – is immaterial.
Most when they
spend their rent or food money on gambling, drugs, drinking, fancy cars, things
they cannot afford and do not need, or even feeding their pets better than
themselves – don’t care for someone will give them a handout – and it had
better be the government. Withhold a single welfare check and watch the
nation riot – destroying their own property as well as that of others – causing
as much damage as possible – then saying they are justified. Too long
have the authorities allowed those who protest violently, get away with it –
even when their own take part as in the time of Katrina. Too long have
the authorities protected the rights of those who hate America and denied the
rights of those who love America.
It also follows
that many who’ve the understanding and knowledge to correct the way one sees
things – instead entitle those who scream about the unfairness, racism, hatred
(while hating) and simply not having a knowledge of history or that we’re
living today and not eighty to a thousand years ago. By this entitlement of
pacifying those who scream the loudest and not correcting them our society
continues to embrace the goals of our government to separate, divide and
conquer!
Those who are
found to enjoy killing their mental abilities, and then refuse to accept and
understand truth, seek to be entitled. They desire to have other pacify
them and coddle them, rather than to upset them. They seek to find something to
offend themselves – voice it and say something racial – and then if those they’re
with want them to stay – they’ll expect another to be blamed for being
insensitive to their hurt feelings. All because they don’t want to accept truth
for truth but need an excuse of not doing so – placing the blame on a 3rd
party. Like little spoiled children they get their way while causing hurt and
distrust between two who had been friends.
The expediency of
the various occurrences, where those who are self-indulgent to be brain-dead
expands more and more in the everyday news, movies, and political establishments.
Too often actors and actresses blame another for the problems they’ve helped to
create. This comes across in the media’s efforts to destroy ‘good’ and replace
it with ‘evil.’ (Note: I’d use the word ‘bad’ here but he media has altered its
meaning to be considered good.) And thus the saga of the decline and
failure of our nation continues.
Killing the mind
is a rough contact sport and causes multiple side-effects and collateral damage
to all striving to imitate immaturity and false truths. None involved in this
killing of the mind want to go it alone. They want others to justify and give
credence that they’re doing the right thing. One must remember there are no
cultural barriers as this affects every aspect of the population in the United
States. Color, race, ethnicity, place of birth, wealthy, poor, broke or
somewhere in-between all can be found entwined.
White collar and
blue collar – employed and unemployed – married or single – living as a family
(either man/woman or otherwise) – children or teenagers or adults can be found
entwined. Educated or uneducated, able to read and write or illiterate, come
together in this boiling pot of self-indulgence, seeking to kill their minds. Why – simply to
satisfy the need for contention – get their feeding frenzy of hatred and
revenge sedated.
Long ago and far away the American Indian of
many tribes prayed for enemies. Why? For if an Indian had an enemy it required
them to maintain mental, spiritual and physical fitness. Without an enemy they
would get lazy, fat and careless. Today we are a living example of this
slothfulness – by letting others fight our battles, teach us religion, make
laws, fight our legal issues, sentence our criminals and to teach our children.
We pay for armies, preachers, politicians, lawyers, judges, teachers, for all
that once we could do for ourselves. And in our spare time we go to the mall –
watch tv – read (if one can) trashy novels – and seek self-indulgence in total
disregard to the teachings we profess to believe and follow.
Men and women can be heard on the radio, tv,
movies, in lecture halls – praying for peace when in reality they prefer
contention, strife, war, argument, hatred and revenge. Men and women do not
want peace except when it pleases them – so they can gain the advantage over
another. Many nations call for truces – not to seek settlement but to rearm and
to relocate to fight another day.
Why do men and women not want peace? It is
because if they had true peace, they would be required to seek the understanding
of truth. In doing so they would have to recognize Heavenly Father and His Son
and then be obedient to all of the Commandments, Statutes and Laws as
proclaimed by them and their Prophets and Apostles. Can you imagine no tv or
sports on Sunday? Can you imagine only G rated movies? Can you imagine caring
for your neighbor – helping the needy and the poor of spirit? Can you imagine
clothing the naked – caring for the widow and orphan? Can you imagine actually
having to live to a higher law which requires obedience which would actually
allow you to be truly happy?
Men and women for the most part cannot
because they choose they don’t want to have a life separate from the carnal
nature of the world. They choose instead to dwell in Babylon rather than Zion (we
must note you cannot be in both at the same time) believing they’ll get out
before the last day they’ve to live. Some churches even teach of death-bed
confessions.
In addition, peer pressure would not allow
those who they socialize with to change – for fear of ridicule and
embarrassment. Sadly, then the killing of the mind becomes one of choice and a
social sigma to change. People only change for two reasons – to gain a benefit
or avoid a loss. And therefore with the world teaching there is no benefit to
gain by changing from the carnal world – most will not change.
To be killing one’s brain/mind – it is to be
remembered that it is to disallow truth to dwell within. It is to refute in
righteous anger and implication that what they believe to be true is false
without reason or logic. Common sense is regulated to the hook of the
audience’s disapproval. Instead contention, hatred and revenge are found to be
the motivators – whether latent or obvious. For anyone who denies truth can
only do so in anger and in anger comes hatred and in hatred comes revenge and
in revenge comes the death of the mind.
